Comment by Dianne Akast on June 25, 2010 at 12:35: Hi Everyone, Once again we had a really enjoyable network meeting.It nice to see some new as well as many familiar faces. Thanks to Prue Crarer from ELCM-Alfriston College for allowing us to meet at this brand new early childhood centre which is owned and operated by Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association. Also a big thanks to Prue for sharing how she and her team are implementing a Reggio Emilia approach to teaching and learning at the centre.
The second part of the meeting allowed us all to share our concerns (and anger) about the budget cuts to ECE. We are all passionately opposed to these cuts which devalue and de-professionalise our sector and are highly aware that we will all need to support each other over the coming months.

Comment by Dianne Akast on May 25, 2010 at 14:40: Many thanks to the team at Pukekohe Central Kindergarten for hosting the last meeting of the Manukau Network on the 18 May. Despite a small turnout various issues concerning ECE were hotly discussed and it was great to have teachers from Te Akonga Early Learning Centre (attending for the first time), Onewhero Preschool, and Barnados Pakuranga attending.

Great to catch up with teachers who are becoming regulars at these events and also to meet those attending for the first time. Hope to see you all again at the next Network Meeting. Ka Kite, Dianne
