Planning for 1st February

Hi there Lynne and Helen

I know its short notice but there is a meeting of the wellington ece network at Education House, Wellington (5th Floor) from 10:30 am tomorrow morning (Tuesday 11th Jan). Lunch provided. We will be talking about region wide responses to the cuts on 1st Feb 2011.

I realise its not likely you will be able to attend (I expect your probably still in England Helen), but anyway maybe we can use this site to discuss our planned wairarapa events. I'm hoping some interested parties might be willing to get together somewhere in Masterton right after our staff meeting on Tuesday 25th. Do you have any suggestions of a good venue? I'll certainly approach Jane and Norma early before the meeting gets underway and get a small slot to talk to our colleagues while we still have their attention before they leave. (Just thinking out loud, maybe we can just stay in the Copthorne and meet people in the hotel bar right there)?

Hi everyone.

Happy New Year.

Just back yesterday from Europe and getting back into normal life - still a bit of Jet Lag. I am keen to do what I can this year to promote the plight of ECE under our present government. A meeting after the staff meeting is OK for me. However I do think you should email all the kindetgartens prior to this, some teachers will be in and would get the message and be able to plan to stay on. We need something simple and newsworthy, that doesn't take too much time or man power. The :abour Party has produced a Wairarapa flier in ECE it is not great but it is OK.

Welcome back Helen, hope you had a wonderful time away and that you've been able to recharge your batteries.

I did drop a note into all mailboxes late last year to suggest this meeting, however in all likelihood its been overlooked in the end of year rush. So I will drop another note in on Monday 25th when we are in the kindergarten for set up.

I've been at central office in wellington this week and we should have plenty of materials and support for our table at Waitangi Origins day. We should have a petition that will be in all kindergartens by the 25th or 26th for teams to put in front of parents too, then we can have it at the origins festival.

There will be budget available from branch and area council to make the origins festival a success.

Hi Dylan,

Hope the meeting went well in Wellington sorry could not attend was on holiday in Pauanui. Interested to hear about the meeting discussion. Good idea for staying at the venue for meeting 25th for political planning around 1st Feb and ongoing it is an election year!
