Grim Reaper Tolley takes her scythe to PRT grants

he Government has scrapped the provisionally registered teachers grant for centres with more than 80 percent qualified teachers from July 2011.

The $4300 per teacher fund is used to support them to become fully registered.

What will this mean? The centres best able to help PRT's register will get no support to do so, and a serious disincentive to taking them on. Meanwhile the pressure fall on the few registered teachers in centres whose management have already demonstrated serious inabilities to meet targets or provide support or incentives for their trained staff.
