With the nation thinking of Christchurch the govt seems to be thinking of more cuts

Here's some of their ideas from before the quake, they may have slipped under people's radar.

These ideas if implemented will have impacts on our sector as well as for parenst and families

And some post quake thoughts as ideas for a levy such as Australia used to recover seem to be getting shelved in favour of pushing a more radical act party favoured cut and slash approach.Was it a slip by the finance minister when he refered to getting their hands on the money on national radio?

Student loans safe but Working for Families changes possible - PM

...Asked on NewstalkZB about working for families and interest free student loans Mr Key said changing the loans was unlikely but suggested changes to working for families were possible.

"There are areas where the eligibility of them is too generous and I think there are savings we can make and we will work on those... I don't anticipate interest going back on student loans for instance....""
